Miami, March 26–27, 2026 — DoubleTree by Hilton Miami Airport & Convention Center.
For two days, Miami became the meeting point for the people leading occupational safety and health across the Americas. The agenda centred on the risks reshaping today’s workplaces and on the weight that well-being and sustainability now carry in the future of work. And it closed with the PREVER Awards being presented in North America for the very first time.

Technology is changing how work gets done, the workforce itself is shifting, and new risks keep surfacing. Session after session returned to the same conclusion: meeting the regulation is no longer enough. What organizations need are strategies built around people and designed to hold up over time.
The symposium was convened by Interactive Community Alliance (ICA) and drew more than 200 professionals and business leaders. They came from Texas, Illinois, New York, Atlanta and South Florida, and from six Latin American countries: Colombia, Costa Rica, Honduras, the Dominican Republic, Peru and Ecuador.
A global conversation
The organizations that set the global agenda, in one room
Around the table were the institutions that steer this field worldwide: the International Labour Organization (ILO), the National Safety Council (NSC), the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH), the American Society of Safety Professionals (ASSP), the International Occupational Hygiene Association (IOHA) and ISSA – Vision Zero.
Two days of keynotes and panels put specialists from very different industries in the same room: technical rigour on one side, hands-on experience on the other, and the perspectives of the Global North and the Global South brought into one conversation.

Across both days the emphasis fell on working between sectors rather than in isolation. Delegates traded experience, built relationships and mapped out openings to keep working together.

The PREVER Awards reach North America for the first time
PREVER 2025 Awards Ceremony
The high point of the second day was the PREVER 2025 Awards Ceremony: the first time in the history of the awards that they have been handed out in North America, and a landmark in the four decades of work behind the General Council of Industrial Relations and Labour Sciences of Spain.
The International PREVER Awards have been running since 1998, distinguishing outstanding work in occupational safety and health across Europe, Latin America, Asia and Oceania. Their guiding idea —it is wiser to foresee what has yet to come than to argue over what has already passed— is precisely what they reward: prevention, leadership and innovation.
Presiding over the ceremony were the President of the General Council, Prof. Dr. Rafael Ruiz Calatrava, and Secretary General Alex Cabrera Espejo, who formally opened this edition.
